Teenage winger of Nigerian descent plays for 45 minutes as Man Utd lose to Real Betis

Manchester United are heading back to the United Kingdom without a win in their two friendly matches in Spain.

The Red Devils' first friendly ahead of the Premier League restart ended in defeat, with Cadiz claiming a 4-2 win on Wednesday, December 7.

Against Real Betis on Saturday evening, teenage Anglo-Nigerian winger Shola Shoretire started on the bench, while Maxi Oyedele missed out entirely on the matchday squad.

There were no goals in the first half but Anthony Martial came close to breaking the deadlock when he curled an effort narrowly wide.

Manager Erik ten Hag made a quadruple change at the interval, including bringing on Shoretire  to replace Martial.

Four minutes into the second half, Nabil Fekir netted what proved to be the game-winning goal with a low finish after a brilliant link-up play.

Shoretire played centrally in attack after his introduction at halftime and was flanked by Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga.

Manchester United's first competitive game after the World Cup is against Burnley in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, December 21.
