Published: December 21, 2022In their final friendly before the Premier League restart, table toppers Arsenal were held to a goalless draw by Championship club Luton Town at London Colney on Wednesday, December 21.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta named in his starting lineup six players who were included on their countries rosters for the 2022 World Cup, including England winger Bukayo Saka who made a splash in Qatar and Switzerland captain Granit Xhaka.
The other players who traveled to Qatar were Thomas Partey, Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White
Fulham Academy product Elijah Adebayo and defender Gabriel Osho started from the off for Luton Town.
Adebayo had a chance to give the Hatters the lead in in the 31st minute but his shot from the edge of the area was saved by goalkeeper Ramsdale, and the tall Nigerian center forward was on defensive duty in the 38th minute with a good block to deflect a shot from Partey.
Three minutes before the break, Adebayo was presented with another chance to open the scoring but he was denied again by the impressive Ramsdale.
Luton Town manager Rob Edwards made three changes in the 60th minute, one of which saw Adebayo replaced by Cameron Jerome.
