Ideho makes first appearance for Arsenal U21 after returning from Flying Eagles duty
Published: February 04, 2023Flamboyant winger Joel Ideho is back at Arsenal after his commitments with Nigeria's U20 national team.
The former Ajax Amsterdam wonderkid was handed his first call-up to the Flying Eagles last month and trained with the squad in Abuja, but has not been selected in a 30-man provisional roster ahead of the tournament in Egypt.
Ideho had missed four straight matches contested by Arsenal's development squad before the visit of Reading to Meadow Park for a round of 16 Premier League Cup clash.
The 19-year-old looked lively in the first half against the Royals, and came very close to getting on the score sheet just before halftime but his shot whistled past the far post.
A brilliant goal from Romanian midfielder Cirjan meant Arsenal were ahead at the interval but Reading equalized in the 52nd minute through Carson, who slotted home from 25 yards out to eventually send the game into extra time.
Arsenal progressed to the quarterfinals of the Premier League Cup thanks to Bandeira's goal in the 96th minute.
Ideho has stood out for the Gunners in the Premier League Cup, scoring against Swansea City before grabbing a brace in a 3-1 win at Burnley in the group stage of the competition.
