AC Milan center back reveals two qualities of Osimhen ahead of Champions League showdown
Published: April 17, 2023Napoli will be looking to overturn a one-goal disadvantage when they battle AC Milan in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash on Tuesday.
Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has recovered from a muscle injury and is in contention to return to the starting lineup in tomorrow's showdown at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
The 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup winner comes into the game as the leading marksman in the Serie A with 21 goals to his name, seven more than Inter Milan star Lautaro Martínez.
One of the AC Milan players that will be tasked with containing the Napoli number 9 is Denmark international Simon Kjær.
Kjær and his center back partner Fikayo Tomori had little work to do in last week's first leg at the San Siro as Napoli struggled in attack without a recognized center forward in the starting lineup due to the injury-enforced absence of Osimhen and Giovanni Simeone.
The Denmark star highlighted two qualities of Osimhen at the pre-match press conference, saying the Nigerian is pacey with physicality to boot.
In quotes relayed by Sempremilan, Kjær said : "It won’t change much. Osimhen is a player with great qualities, very fast and very physical. He had a fantastic season. We prepared for him, but the basis remains the same: we all defend, we all attack."
AC Milan have not conceded a goal in their last five Champions League matches, which is the longest running streak for any club in the competition since Manchester City did it in 2020-2021.
