Serie A leading marksman Osimhen takes tally for the season to 25 with brace against Bologna
Published: May 28, 2023Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen on Sunday afternoon scored a brace in Napoli's 2-2 away draw against Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.
Prior to the Match week 37 game, Osimhen had scored 23 Serie A goals but by grabbing the two goals, surpassed his scoring streaks in the last two seasons.
The Nigerian scored 10 and 14 league goals in the 2020/2021 and 221/2022 seasons but has now scored 25 alone in the current campaign and 30 in all competitions.
Osimhen scored the first goal in the 14th minute when he pounced on a loose ball after goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski made a huge mistake in passing out from the back to stroke the ball inside the net.
In the 54th minute, Osimhen outjumped the defence to meet a corner and headed the ball towards the right side of the goal.
The long-range header was not powerful enough, and the keeper comfortably made a save.
However, within few seconds of that passage of play, Osimhen scored the second of the day for his team as he picked a pass from Bartosz Bereszynski inside the penalty area, then took advantage of the situation to rifle a low shot into the back of the net.
Bologna's Lewis Ferguson reduced the deficit in the 63rd minute with a rebound from a shot and the home side restored parity with Lorenzo De Silvestri getting the needed goal six minutes before full time.
