Confirmed: Flying Eagles GK Aniagboso joins newly promoted Ukrainian top-flight club
Published: May 29, 2023With a statement on their official website, newly promoted Ukrainian Premier League club FC Polissya Zhytomyr have announced the capture of Nigeria underage international Chijoke Aniagboso.
The Flying Eagles goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a five-year deal that will keep him at Polissya Zhytomyr until the end of the 2027-2028 season.
FC Polissya Zhytomyr were crowned champions of the Persha Liha at the weekend following a 2-1 win over LNZ Cherkasy.
Aniagboso has gone the distance in every single game played by the Flying Eagles at the ongoing FIFA U20 World Cup, posting a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Italy, while conceding three goals.
The 19-year-old shone at the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, where he posted four clean sheets from a possible five.
He was a shock inclusion in the Super Eagles 23-man squad list for their March internationals against Guinea-Bissau, benefiting from a directive issued to manager Jose Peseiro by the Nigeria Football Federation that a minimum of three home-based players should be included on the roster for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
However, the Giant Brillars FC custodian was an unused substitute in the back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
