Chukwueze and Moffi nominated for Europa Conference League Goal of the Tournament
Published: June 10, 2023The duo of Samuel Chukwueze and Terem Moffi are in the running for the UEFA Europa Conference League Goal of the Tournament.
Moffi's goal that got nominated was his overhead kick for Nice in their 2-2 draw with Basel at St.Jakob Park in the second leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
For Chukwueze, his goal for Villarreal in their 4-3 win over Lech Poznan at Estadio De La Ceramica on matchday one of the competition is also in the running.
They will be up against Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), Ciro Immobile (Lazio), Andy Diouf (Basel), Declan Rice (West Ham), Erdogan Yesilyurt (Sivasspor), Christian Kouame (Fiorentina), Riccardo Saponara (Fiorentina) for the UECL Goal of the Tournament.
The goals were selected by UEFA's technical observers and the winner will be decided by the vote of fans.
Chukwueze bagged twi goals and three assists for Villarreal in the competition before they were knocked out by RSC Anderlecht in the round of 16 while Moffi registered three goals for Nice in four appearances before they got knocked out by FC Basel in the quarterfinals.
Chukwueze has been named in Nigeria's squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone while Moffi missed out on the roster announced on Friday by the Nigeria Football Federation.
