Super Falcons player ratings: Nnadozie athletic, Ucheibe destroyer, Ohale solid, Oshoala isolated

The Super Falcons kicked off their World Cup campaign with a barren draw against Olympic champions Canada on Friday morning.

Allnigeriasoccer.com runs the rule over the Nigerian players on parade at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

The starters

Goalkeeper

Chiamaka Nnadozie: The captain led by example and  proved why she was one of the best goalkeepers in the French top flight last season

The Paris FC goalkeeper showed fanatastic positioning and athletisim to come up with a big save from the penalty spot to rescue a vital point for Nigeria 9/10

Defenders

Michelle Alozie: The right-back was energetic throughout the encounter, was precise with her tackles and bumped forward when she had to though she could have done better putting some crosses inside the box.7/10

Osinachi Ohale: She showed why she was one of Nigeria's best and most experienced players and played a vital role as Randy Waldrum's ladies kept the Olympic champions at bay 8.5/10

Oluwatosin Demehin: Though got a yellow card, she was as impressive as her defensive partner. 7.5/ 10

Ashleigh Plumptre: She was dogged defensively as she proved hard to beat down the left-hand side but didn't do much offensively 7/10

Midfielders

Deborah Abiodun: The 19-year-old debutant was impressive in the middle of the park as she pressed well and moved forward when she had to.  Very unlucky to have been sent off.8/10

Christy Ucheibe: Covered every blade of grass. Paired alongside the young Abiodun, she carried out her duties properly being the deepest-playing midfielder and made well-timed tackles and interceptions. 8.5/10

Toni Payne: Since Nigeria didn't have much possession, she struggled to impact the proceeding but also worked her socks off.6/10

Forwards

Francisco Ordega: The striker came back to help the Super Falcons defence  when they came under siege especially  in the opening twenty minutes. And that explains why she gave away a penalty. 6/10

Asisat Oshoala: She got Nigeria's best chance and should have been more composed with the opportunity.

The Barcelona Femeni forward was isolated and had to drop deep to create chances for her teammates. 6.5/10

Ifeoma Onumonu: She was lively throughout her stay on the pitch stretching the Canadian defence whenever she had the opportunity 7/10

The substitutes

Uchenna Kanu: Came on for the poor Ordega and was more impactful with her directness. She won a rare free-kick for the Super Falcons shortly after coming off the bench. 6/10

Esther Okoronkwo: Came on for Onumonu but couldn't influence the proceeding 5/10

Onyi Ochegini: Introuced in the 91st minute. Came on very late to have any influence N/A
