Former Sevilla striker Javier Casquero has suggested that Getafe manager José Bordalás has the ability to elevate players to elite levels, even drawing comparisons between Nigerian forward Akor Adams and a prime Didier Drogba under his guidance.
Casquero made the remarks while reflecting on Sevilla’s managerial situation and the potential influence Bordalás could have had at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
Speaking to Radio Marca via ABC, Casquero argued that the Getafe boss has a unique capacity to maximise player potential.
He believes the Getafe manager has the ability to transform individual players, including Akor Adams, who he feels possesses the qualities to perform like a prime Didier Drogba.
"Getafe doesn't have a better team than Sevilla. They have a man (Bordalás) who takes Lucien Agoumé and you think he's Vieira, takes Akor Adams and you think he's Drogba. That's just how it is, it's crazy," Casquero said.
Akor Adams has been a key figure for Sevilla this season as the Rojiblancos battle to secure their La Liga status.
The 26-year-old netted seven goals and provided four assists in 25 across all competitions.
However, the Nigerian international faced uncertainty over his place in the squad following the dismissal of former manager Matías Jesús Almeyda.
Upon his return from the international break, the former Montpellier striker is set to play under new head coach Luis García.
