Official: Royal Antwerp confirm signing of Super Eagles winger
Published: July 30, 2023Through their official website, Jupiler Pro League champions Royal Antwerp have announced the signing of Super Eagles winger, Chidera Ejuke.
The Nigerian forward has joined the Belgian champions on a season-long loan from Russian side CSKA Moscow.
Ejuke uses an exemption from FIFA for players active in Russia to make the switch to the Belgium-based club
He spent last season on loan with German Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin but was hampered by injury as he could only manage 21 games, nine of which he started, and notched three assists.
With the Jupiler Pro League kick-starting this weekend, the 25-year-old will have to settle in quickly to stand a chance of breaking into the first XI and get ample game time.
Ejuke made his debut for the Super Eagles during a friendly match against Tunisia, which resulted in a 1-1 draw.
The left winger's ability didn't go unnoticed, as he later became part of the Super Eagles squad that competed in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations held in Cameroon.
