Borussia Dortmund passed up opportunity to sign Boniface before striker's transfer to Bayer Leverkusen
Published: October 11, 2023Borussia Dortmund reportedly passed up the opportunity to sign Victor Boniface before his move to Bayer Leverkusen.
According to Sport Bild via Fussballtransfers, the Black and Yellows were offered the chance to sign the Nigerian striker in the just-concluded transfer window but turned down the opportunity.
The report added that Borussia Dortmund felt that they did not need a striker at that particular point with Sébastien Haller beginning to find his feet at the club.
However, they went on to sign German international Niclas Füllkrug later in the transfer window.
The 2011-2012 Bundesliga champions will be biting their fingers right now for failing to sign Boniface who has had a blistering start to his Bundesliga career.
The Super Eagles forward has netted 7 goals in the Bundesliga so far which is way more than Füllkrug who has only managed to score two goals in the colours of Borussia Dortmund.
Edin Terzić's side lost the Bundesliga crown to Bayern Munich on the final matchday last season and signing Boniface would have helped their chances of winning the title this term.
