Osimhen chases Tottenham icon in headed goal tally, scores 18th header for Napoli
Published: February 25, 2024Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen scored his first Serie A goal of this calendar for Napoli in their 1-1 draw with Cagliari at the Sardegna Arena on Sunday afternoon.
He opened the scoring in the 65th minute after Giacomo Rapspadori did well to recover the ball before putting it on the head of the Nigerian striker who made no mistake of putting the ball in the back of the net.
Napoli would be deprived of the maximum points as Zito Luvumbo restored parity in the 96th minute, showing composure to put the ball home from Alberto Dossena's pass.
Having scored with a header today, Osimhen has now netted 18 headed goals since making his debut in the Serie A in the 2020/2021 season, the second most in the top 5 leagues in Europe, with only Tottenham legend, Harry Kane(24) having more than him, courtesy of statisticians at Opta.
His strike against Cagliari today was also his fifth goal and seventh goal involvement against them in the Italian top flight.
The Nigeria international has also moved into double figures of goal contributions for the season in the Seria A, registering 8 goals and two assists.
