Jose Peseiro's replacement: NFF reveal four things they are looking for in next Super Eagles coach
Published: March 08, 2024The Nigeria Football Federation have revealed four things they are looking for in the next Super Eagles head coach.
Nigeria are searching for a new manager after parting company with Jose Peseiro who became a free agent on March 1, 2024 following the expiry of his contract with the Nigerian Federation.
The Portuguese was due to be retained after surpassing the Nigerian Federation's target of reaching at least the semifinals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Peseiro has decided to end his 21-month collaboration with the Nigeria Football Federation due to financial reasons.
In their search for a visionary leader to take the helm of the Super Eagles, the Nigeria Football Federation, through their official website, identified four qualities the preferred candidate must possess.
The new Super Eagles coach must possess the necessary coaching qualifications to lead a national team and demonstrate proven experience of managing football at the highest level.
In addition, the incoming Super Eagles coach must have a successful track record of leading teams to victories, while knowledge of African football will be a strong positive but not mandatory.
With Peseiro in the Super Eagles dugout, the national team registered eleven wins, four draws and seven losses in his twenty-two games in charge.
