Nigeria squad announcement: Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester, Ajax alums named to Super Falcons roster
Published: March 25, 2024Ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers, the Nigeria Football Federation have announced the Super Falcons roster for the double header with South Africa's Banyana Banyana next month.
An analysis of the roster revealed that manager Randy Waldrum has summoned three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders and seven forwards for the two-legged encounter.
Rinsola Babajide, Asisat Oshoala, Ashleigh Plumptre and Toni Payne who count Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester City and Ajax Amsterdam respectively among their former clubs have been invited.
Falconets defender Shukurat Oladipo is in contention to make her senior debut as she has received her first call up to the Super Falcons, while Japanese-based star Chidinma Okeke has been recalled to the squad after close to three years in the international wilderness.
The first leg of the Super Falcons v Banyana Banyana match is set for Friday, April 5th, at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
Following this, they will head to Pretoria for the return leg at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday, April 9th.
The team that emerges victorious over the two legs will secure one of Africa's two spots in this year's Women's Olympic Football Tournament.
