Atletico Madrid dazzler, GK Oluehi, 4 others report for Super Falcons duty; closed door session Tuesday
Published: April 01, 2024Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that at least six players have reported for international duty ahead of the Super Falcons eagerly anticipated showdown with South Africa's Banyana Banyana in a Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifier in Abuja.
Earlier, the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the arrival of Atletico Madrid dazzler Rasheedat Ajibade, Shualat Alsharqia netminder Tochukwu Oluehi and Jumoke Alani, who was handed a late call-up to replace the injured Ashleigh Plumptre.
Japanese-based defender Chidinma Okeke, NWFL Premiership stars Linda Jiwuaku (Bayelsa Queens) and Shukurat Oladipo (FC Robo Queens) have also linked up with the squad in the nation's capital and were spotted having dinner on Monday evening.
It should be noted that Super Falcons manager Randy Waldrum is keeping his preparations under wraps and does not want any distractions.
And because of the aforementioned reasons, the Super Falcons' training session on Tuesday, April 2 will be held behind closed doors.
Visitors Banyana Banyana appear to be the home team as they have already settled down in Abuja and held their first training session on Nigerian soil on Monday afternoon.
South Africa coach Desiree Ellis will work with at least 20 players in Tuesday's training session, with three foreign-based players Jermaine Seoposenwe, Refiloe Jane and Noko Matlou joining up with the squad upon their arrival in Abuja.
The Super Falcons, Africa's most successful team, are aiming to qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time since 2008.
