West Ham, Wolves, Brighton keeping tabs on 2024 Golden Boy nominee Samuel Omorodion
Published: April 18, 2024According to HITC, Premier League trio West Ham United, Wolves and Brighton are keeping tabs on talented Spanish-Nigerian striker Samu Omorodion.
Omorodion is one of the four talented young players of Nigerian descent nominated for the 2024 Golden Boy, the others being Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu, Fiorentina fullback Michael Kayode and Lagos-born forward George Ilenikhena.
The Hammers want to sign a center forward this summer as Michail Antonio and Danny Ings have struggled for goals all season and London-based club are looking for a replacement for the former.
Hwang Hee-Chan and Matheus Cunha have led the line brilliantly for Wolves but they could make do with signing a younger striker like Omorodion to fortify their attack.
The Wanderers are hoping to replicate the trick they used in signing Diogo Jota from Atlético Madrid in 2018 in getting the talented central forward.
Brighton's interest in the 19-year-old shouldn't come as a surprise as the club have always been committing young talents, boasting one of the youngest squads in the Premier League.
The Atlético Madrid loanee has done pretty well in his loan spell at Deportivo Alavés, scoring eight goals and registering one assist in 29 La Liga games despite this season being his first in the Spanish topflight.
Diego Simeone is said to be happy with the progress of the Spanish youth international and could hand him a chance in the first team next term.
Should Omorodion decide to stay at the Wanda Metropolitano next season, he will face stiff competition from Álvaro Morata and Memphis Depay for a place in the starting lineup.
