Chelsea's search for a world-class striker: Napoli star Victor Osimhen remains a player of interest
Published: April 21, 2024According to Caughtoffside, Chelsea are ready to negotiate with Napoli for the signing of 2023 CAF Men's Player of the Year Victor Osimhen.
The Stamford Bridge outfit want to negotiate terms of release of the Super Eagles forward with Napoli as there is a concern that they risk breaching the Premier League Sustainability Rules.
The club remain keenly interested in the signing of the 25-year-old because of their continuous struggles in front of goal which has greatly affected them this season.
While Cole Palmer who is the Premier League joint top scorer at the moment have been prolific, Chelsea's lack of a clinical striker have cost them aplenty this season.
They were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester City yesterday at the Wembley Stadium despite creating a lot of chances but couldn't convert any with Nicolas Jackson being the main culprit.
Thus, it is understandable that the Stamford Bridge outfit are strongly interested in signing a world class striker like Osimhen but will have to fight off competition particularly from PSG to sign him.
The Nigeria international is the joint third top scorer in the Serie A this season with 13 goals scored in 21 games.
