Arthur Okonkwo's potential departure: United States youth teamer heading to Arsenal for training stint
Published: April 25, 2024United States youth international, Adam Beaudry is reportedly heading to Premier League table-toppers Arsenal for a training stint, amid speculation linking Nigerian goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo with a departure from the Emirates Stadium in the off-season.
According to Tom Bogert, Major League Soccer and United States men's national soccer team Insider for The Athletic, Colorado Rapids have allowed Adam Beaudry to travel to England to train with Arsenal and he will not be on the bench for Saturday's Major League Soccer clash against FC Cincinnati.
Beaudry recently turned eighteen years and is believed to be on the radar of foreign clubs.
Arsenal youth insider Jeorge Bird has informed that it seems as if there is a bit of an overhaul of the Arsenal academy goalkeepers at the moment., adding that a third choice goalkeeper may be needed for the first team if Estonia international Karl Hein is loaned out next season and Arthur Okonkwo moves on to pastures new.
A product of Arsenal's Hale End Academy, Okonkwo is spending the whole of the 2023-2024 campaign on loan at Wrexham, whom he helped secure promotion to the League One.
The 22-year-old has flourished at Wrexham, posting sixteen clean sheets in 39 all-competition appearances and was recently
honored with a spot in the League Two Team of the Season, meaning he's officially the best goalkeeper in the division.
Wrexham are working to sign Okonkwo on a permanent deal but have to see off competition from Premier League and Championship clubs.
Signed as a schoolboy, he has received ten call-ups for first team games without making his senior debut for the Gunners.
