George named in matchday squad, Madueke scores and assists for Chelsea in draw with Aston Villa
Published: April 27, 2024Flying Eagles-eligible forward Tyrique George was named in the matchday squad as Chelsea came from two goals down to play a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at the Villa Park on Saturday night.
The home side took the lead as early as the 4th minute through an own goal from Marc Cucurella who had the last touch from an earlier shot from John McGinn.
Three minutes before half time, Morgan Rogers doubled the Villans' lead with a low strike which passed through Trevor Chalobah's leg before beating Đorđe Petrović.
Super Eagles-eligible forward Noni Madueke pulled one back for the Blues in the 62nd minute, having picked out the bottom left corner accurately.
Conor Gallagher put the away side back on level terms in the 81st minute with a superb left-footed strike after receiving a pass from Madueke to hand Mauricio Pochettino's side a point from a losing position.
George made the matchday squad for the first time during Chelsea's 6-0 battering of Everton at the Stamford Bridge but missed the trip to the Emirates last week.
Due to the unavailability of some first key players, the 18-year-old was given another rare opportunity to be a part of the matchday squad
He has been one of the best players for the U18s who are on the verge of winning the U18 Premier League South and has a modest three goals in 10 games in the Premier League 2.
