Crystal Palace's youngest-ever PL player David Ozoh reveals his Nigerian dad supports Man Utd
Published: May 14, 2024
Crystal Palace defensive midfielder David Ozoh has revealed that his Nigerian dad is a fan of Manchester United.
The Anglo-Spanish-Nigerian footballer holds the record for the youngest-ever player to feature for the Eagles in the Premier League, aged 17 years and 260 days when he made his debut against Newcastle United in January 2023.
Overall, Ozoh has been called up 31 times for first-team matches and has seen action in thirteen of them.
The 19-year-old has been on the periphery of Crystal Palace's first team in the last two seasons on the back of his outstanding performances for the youth teams.
Since making his senior debut, Ozoh has played in some of the iconic stadiums in England including Old Trafford, the Etihad, the Emirates, St James’ Park and Goodison Park.
He was substituted in against Newcastle United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle United.
Speaking to Crystal Palace's matchday programme for the visit of Chelsea, Ozoh remarked: "It’s what you dream of, isn’t it? Those 60,000 to 70,000 seater stadiums."
On the stadium that stands out, he said without hesitation: "Old Trafford. That one, because my dad supported [Manchester United].
"He was there, so for him to watch me come on and see me against the team he supported must have been very emotional for him. He was really proud of me."
Ozoh is set to feature for Crystal Palace when they take on Jong PSV in the final of the Premier League International Cup at Selhurst Park on Wednesday evening.
