U17 WWCQ Nigeria 6 Burkina Faso 0: Harmony Chidi's hat-trick inspires Flamingos to victory
Published: May 18, 2024The Flamingos recorded a resounding 6-0 victory over Burkina Faso in the second leg of the third qualification round of the Fifa U17 Women's World Cup which was staged at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Saturday.
Coach Bankole Olowokoore made no changes to the team that started the first leg in Stade du 26 Mar, Bamako last Saturday.
Nigeria started the game on the front foot with a chance coming their way in the 7th minute but couldn't make the most of the opportunity but finally got the lead in the 11th minute through Chidi Harmony.
In the 34th minute, Peace Effiong doubled the lead and the home side held onto the two-goal cushion till the end of the first half.
Burkina Faso failed to react and the Flamingos took the advantage by notching the third goal in the 74th minute, with Chidi heading the ball home to double her tally in the game.
Sixth minute before the end of the normal regulation time, Ramota Kareem bagged the fourth goal of the evening with a brilliant effort to put the Flamingos in a very comfortable position.
Two minutes later, Harmony capped up her performance with another goal to get her hat-trick while Effiong put the icing on the cake with another strike, a minute before the end of the regulation time.
The result means that the Flamingos are through to the fourth and final qualifying round
