Chukwueze, Nwabali, 13 others train Sunday evening; Iwobi, Onyeka among 8 players yet to show up in camp
Published: June 02, 2024Fifteen Super Eagles players trained on Sunday evening ahead of the Fifa World Cup qualification game against South Africa on Friday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Boavista central defender Chidozie Awaziem and Royal Antwerp midfielder Alhassan Yusuf have joined the training camp which is situated in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, thereby taking the number of players in camp to 15.
Eight players are still expected to join the training camp as preparation gets intense ahead of the clash against South Africa on matchday three of the World Cup qualifiers.
Hale End product Alex Iwobi, former Arsenal academy defender Semi Ajayi, in-form Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, Maduka Okoye, Bright Osayi-Samuel,Calvin Bassey, Frank Onyeka and Paul Onuachu are the players being expected to report.
The Super Eagles will be without star striker Victor Osimhen for the upcoming games against the Bafana Bafana and Benin while Bayer Leverkusen forward Nathan Tella will also be absent.
Osimhen have been replaced by Rangers International left back Kenneth Igboke who has been handed his maiden call-up as well as Ibrahim Olawoyin who has taken the place of Tella.
The full names of the 15 players in camp at the moment are: Chidozie Awaziem, Alhassan Yusuf, Ibrahim Olawoyin, Kenneth Igboke, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukwueze, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Terem Moffi, Stanely Nwabali, Ismaila Sadiq, Ojo Olorunleke, Benjamin Tanimu, Victor Boniface and Raphael Onyedika.
