Victor Boniface, Terem Moffi name the fastest and strongest players in Super Eagles squad
Published: June 05, 2024As the anticipation mounts for the upcoming clash against South Africa, Super Eagles strikers Victor Boniface and Terem Moffi have provided an inside look into the squad dynamics, specifically highlighting the fastest and strongest players.
Scheduled to face off against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on June 7 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, Nigeria's national team is gearing up for a pivotal match before traveling to confront Benin three days later.
In a recent media interaction held on Wednesday, both Moffi and Boniface took the opportunity to shed light on the talents within the squad.
Victor Boniface singled out Ademola Lookman as the fastest player while identifying Calvin Bassey as the epitome of strength among the squad members.
"I think Lookman is the fastest player in the squad, while Calvin Bassey is the strongest," Boniface disclosed during an interview with Football Fans Tribe on YouTube.
However, Moffi presented a contrasting perspective, naming Nottingham Forest's Ola Aina alongside himself as the speed demons within the team.
He further deliberated on the strongest contenders, suggesting Paul Onuachu or Calvin Bassey for the title.
"I think Ola Aina or myself are the fastest players, while Paul Onuachu or Calvin Bassey is the strongest for me," Moffi revealed.
With the Super Eagles currently occupying the third spot in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, trailing South Africa by a single point, the forthcoming encounters against South Africa and the Benin Republic hold significant implications for Nigeria's aspirations to qualify for the tournament.
