Former Italy international urges Roma to sign Lookman-like striker who can skip past his man
Published: July 10, 2024Former Italy international Roberto Pruzzo has urged AS Roma to sign a forward in the mould of Ademola Lookman,
The arrival of Enzo Le Fée to the Giallorossi is imminent, with the versatile midfielder set to be acquired from Stade Rennais for a fee in the region of 20 million euros.
Pruzzo reckons that the money should have been invested in the signing of a player who has the same characteristics as Lookman,
Lookman was predominantly a winger before his move to Atalanta but has flourished playing as a support striker or even a center forward at the Bergamo club.
The advanced roles have seen him running the show, registering an impressive 50 goal involvements (32 goals, 18 assists) in 78 outings for Atalanta.
In the past season, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations star was the only player to score double-digits in home matches in the Serie A.
In quotes relayed by Romanews, Pruzzo lauded Lookman for his ability to beat defenders.
He said on Radio Radio Mattino: "Roma would need a Lookman-style striker, who can take the ball and skip past his man.
"The expense of more than 20 million for Le Fée, who might not even start, intrigues me a little”.
Lookman made a splash in the final of the 2024 Europa League, where he scored a historic hat-trick as Atalanta claimed their first title in European competition by beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-0.
