'He's on his way' - Agent insists Chelsea striker will join Napoli, even if Osimhen stays
Published: July 24, 2024Vincenzo Morabito, a prominent Italian football agent, has weighed in on the transfer rumors surrounding Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen's potential departure from Napoli and the possible arrival of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgium international, Lukaku, has been linked with a move to Napoli as a potential replacement for Osimhen should the Nigerian forward leave the club this summer.
Osimhen has attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain throughout the transfer window.
Discussions between PSG and Napoli reportedly took place but failed to result in an agreement.
Napoli is said to have demanded the inclusion of Lee Kang-in in the deal, a condition that PSG declined, alongside their reluctance to meet Osimhen's release clause.
Commenting on Osimhen's future, Morabito revealed that Lukaku's transfer to Napoli could proceed regardless of Osimhen's status at the club.
"Lukaku? He is on his way to Napoli. Even if Osimhen stays, the Belgian will still arrive in Napoli," Morabito told Napoli Magazine.
Victor Osimhen joined Napoli in the summer of 2020 following an impressive season with Lille, where he scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 27 appearances.
His stellar performances earned him the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé, an annual award given to the best African player in Ligue 1.
