One to watch: Mainz, Turkish and Saudi Arabian clubs interested in Russian-Nigerian striker Onugkha
Published: August 11, 2024Russian-Nigerian striker German Onugkha is attracting interest from European clubs on the back of his impressive performances last season at Vejle Boldklub.
With fifteen goals to his name in 31 games, Onugkha was the top scoring player in the Danish Superliga in 2023-2024.
And those performances have not gone unnoticed, especially as he has picked up from where he left off last season by scoring two goals in four games in the new campaign.
According to reliable Sky Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg, the dual-national forward is a player to keep an eye on until deadline day as there's a possibility he could be leaving Vejle Boldklub.
Onugkha is attracting interest from German Bundesliga clubs including Mainz 05, plus unnamed teams in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, and his valuation is between two and three million euros.
Plettenberg highlighted that Mainz hold an interest in signing Onugkha but talks are not advanced at this stage.
Born in Moscow to a Russian mother and Nigerian father, he spent the formative years of his career playing for FC Torpedo Tamala, FC Narovchat, FC Atmis Kevdo-Melsitovo and FC Zenit-M Penza.
He has also played professionally for Volgar Astrakhan, Krasnodar, Tambov, Krylia Sovetov, Rubin Kazan and Bnei Sakhnin.
Onugkha has entered the last one year of his contract at Vejle, whom he joined in 2021.
