Everton and Crystal Palace interested in Nigerian forward ahead of January transfer window
Published: September 02, 2024Everton and Crystal Palace are reportedly planning a move for Nigerian forward Elijah Adebayo during the winter transfer window.
The Toffees have reportedly identified Adebayo as a potential replacement for England striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has been attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United.
According to reports from ReluctantNicko via thehardtackle, Everton view Adebayo as an ideal candidate to fill Calvert-Lewin's shoes should he leave the club.
The Merseyside club are expected to approach Luton Town, Adebayo's current team when the transfer window reopens in January.
Crystal Palace are also reportedly keen on signing the 26-year-old, particularly with Jean-Philippe Mateta attracting considerable interest during the summer window.
Adebayo joined Luton Town from Walsall at the start of 2021 and has been a key player ever since.
He played an instrumental role in helping Luton secure promotion to the Premier League and followed it up with a strong individual performance last season.
Despite his efforts,,scoring 10 goals in 27 Premier League appearances, Luton Town were unable to avoid relegation.
However, Adebayo’s impressive performances did not go unnoticed, with Everton and Crystal Palace interested in bringing him back to the English top division.
