Super Eagles arrival videos: Ndidi, Boniface, Obasogie report for international duty
Published: September 02, 2024The trio of Wilfred Ndidi, Amas Obasogie and Victor Boniface have arrived for international duty in Uyo ahead of the Super Eagles 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification games against Benin and Rwanda.
The arrival of the Leicester City midfielder, Fasil Ketema FC shot-stopper and Bayer Leverkusen marksman takes the number of players in camp to 10, joining William Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi, Ola Aina, Taiwo Awoniyi, Ademola Lookman, Olisa Ndah and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Ndidi has been in decent form since the start of the season, having started all of Leicester City's Premier League games so far and opened his goalscoring account with a sublime goal in the Carabao Cup last week.
Barring an injury, the veteran midfielder is expected to play a key role in the upcoming games against the Cheetahs and Rwanda.
Following an impressive season with Nigerian outfit Bendel Insurance, Obasogie just secured a move to Fasil Ketema FC, signing a two-year deal with the Ethiopian side.
This is his second invitation to the Super Eagles, as he was also handed an invite for the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe last November.
The 24-year-old faces an uphill task in starting a game for the Super Eagles due to the availability of the more experienced Stanley Nwabali and Maduka Okoye for selection.
Bayer Leverkusen's Boniface could be a key player for the Super Eagles in the back-to-back matches, given that forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman are lacking match fitness, while 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup winners Kelechi Iheanacho and Taiwo Awoniyi have played a total of 108 minutes between team in the new league season.
