Arsenal manager promotes three Nigerian teenagers to first team training
Published: September 05, 2024Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta promoted three teenagers of Nigerian descent to first team training on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
According to Arsenal youth team insider Jeorge Bird, a group of academy players were invited to train with the first team yesterday, including Ife Ibrahim, Cam'ron Ismail and Andre Harriman-Annous.
Arteta has promoted the aforementioned Nigerian scholars to the first team on a termporary basis with as many as twelve first teamers away on international duty with their respective nations.
Jurrien Timber, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, David Raya, William Saliba, Riccardo Calafiori, Martin Odegaard, Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel, Thomas Partey and Kai Havertz were not present at Sobha Realty Training Centre on September 4 due to international commitments.
History-making attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri has been embedded with the first team group since the start of pre-season but didn't train on Wednesday as he's with the England U19 squad and scored on his debut for the age group in a 2-2 draw against Italy.
Ife Ibrahim and Andre Harriman-Annous are first year scholars, while Cam'ron Ismail entered the second year of his scholarship in July 2024.
Annous has started the season on fire with three goal involvements in his first two games in the U18 Premier League.
On the back of his outstanding performances since the backend of last season, he received his first call-up to the U21 team against Leyton Orient in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on September 3 but was a non-playing substitute.
