Manchester United's Brazilian midfielder Casemiro linked with possible loan move
Published: September 06, 2024Reports have been made that Turkish football club Galatasaray has already made contact with the Brazilian star Casemiro for a season-long loan deal.
This move is for them to bolster their midfield options, and it’s probably a good time for them to do this as Casemiro has been strongly criticized for his recent performances, especially during the recent match against Liverpool.
The Old Trafford midfielder was at fault for the two goals that Liverpool’s Luis Diaz scored during the first half of the match last Sunday. So, it was no surprise Eric ten Hag had to bring in 20-year-old Toby Collyer to substitute him at halftime. This was Colllyer’s Premier League debut.
Casemiro's struggles weren't limited to just the goals conceded. He also appeared to be off the pace defensively, winning only two out of five ground duels and failing to impose himself in aerial battles.
Offensively, his contributions were negligible. He had no shots taken and only one completed dribble during his time on the pitch.
Red Devil Fans Are Furious
Manchester United Fans on X (formerly Twitter) had plenty to say during and post-match about what happened during the disappointing loss against Liverpool.
“I’m not saying anything on Ugarte. There is no way anyone can be worse than this Casemiro we are seeing on our screen.” - @painnx2
“I’ve never seen a worse Casemiro performance in my life. Willy Kambwala and Kobbie Mainoo saved us from humiliation. I thought the penalty on Wan Bissaka’s tackle was very harsh.” - @ItsStagy
“Casemiro is such a lucky fella. He’s got the best seat in the house to watch Liverpool score.” - @RobinWigg
But some fans were more understanding of how he played.
“I know Casemiro made a terrible error but it hurts me to say that Liverpool players knew exactly what they were supposed to do. Stifled our midfield completely.” - @RedMarrow_
Former Chelsea player Craig Burley also recently expressed his sympathy for the midfielder. In an interview with ESPN FC, Burley said, “I felt sorry for Casemiro because when the camera went close up on him, you could tell he was embarrassed.
“He has set such high standards for himself throughout his career, and he’s struggling now. But this is a Manchester United problem, an Erik ten Hag problem.”
Casemiro’s Great Start
When Casemiro joined Manchester United in August 2022, Burley was right. He did bring in a wealth of experience and a winning mentality from his time at Real Madrid. Fans would even consider him one of the most important additions to the team thanks to Ten Hag.
Casemiro’s ability to break up play, his physical presence, and his leadership on the pitch did seem to help United’s midfield. After all, he made some great contributions offensively, scored crucial goals, and provided assists in his early days at Old Trafford.
However, as time went on, his form began to wane. Fans weren’t surprised about it, and a fan on X did say that Manchester deserves this [Liverpool loss] for signing a 32-year-old midfielder.
True enough, this season, his performances have been inconsistent, and his impact on games has diminished. This was most evident when he was left out of the FA CUP final squad and of course the recent match with Liverpool.
'Always Strong': Casemiro's Wife Fires Back at Critics and Ten Hag Backs Him Up
There were rumors that Casemiro had to leave the stadium after the second half, but manager Ten Hag denied this. It does seem like Ten Hag and the rest of the United players have Casemiro’s back and believe he’ll still be able to bounce back.
Ten Hag acknowledged that Casemiro had a difficult first half, making mistakes that led to Liverpool’s goals. He explained that the substitution was necessary as the team needed to take more risks to try and come back from a 2-0 deficit.
“I think that in football everyone has to take responsibility. I'm sure he is a great character and he won everything in his career that you can imagine. I am sure he will keep contributing to our team and Casemiro is always winning so he will be there,” Ten Hag continued.
So, Casemiro fans can still look forward to seeing their favorite midfielder make it up to the team. However, sports odds and events at 10CRIC and other bookies might interpret this otherwise. Some tipsters even shared that Casemiro will likely be most carded this season.
After the Liverpool loss, Casemiro’s wife also made sure to show her support. She took her message to Instagram by posting a photo of the man himself with his teammates. It was captioned: “Always strong Casemiro, the biggest (flaming heart emoji)."
Conclusion
Whether he’ll be able to continue to contribute positively to the team in this year’s EPL is something we have to wait and see. There is still a good chance that Turkish FC Galatasaray will be able to loan him from United, and it seems like the fans will be happier if this is the case.
