Sevilla issue medical report on Super Eagles winger Ejuke after injury against Barcelona
Published: October 22, 2024Through a statement on their official website, Sevilla have confirmed the nature of the injury of Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke.
Ejuke was brought off in the first half of the club's 5-1 loss to Barcelona at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium on Sunday and was replaced by Arsenal loanee Albert Sambi Lokonga.
Having undergone medical tests on Monday morning, it has now been revealed that he has suffered a high-grade injury to the hamstrings of his left thigh, which will make him miss the next couple of matches.
The absence of the dazzling winger will be a huge blow for García Pimienta who has been able to benefit from his brilliance.
Ejuke has been one of the most entertaining forwards in the Spanish La Liga this season, having been ranked as the best dribbler in the division, ahead of Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior.
In the top five leagues in Europe, only Mohammed Kudus, Iliman Ndiaye, Nuno Tavares and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have a better dribble completion percentage than the Nigerian forward.
The 26-year-old has made nine appearances for Sevilla this term and has bagged one goal, which was the winning strike in their La Liga matchday seven victory over Real Valladolid l last month.
His injury could also see him miss out on being handed another invitation to the Super Eagles ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Rwanda and Benin next month.
