Ola Aina fitness doubt for Nottingham Forest pre-Arsenal, attended to by physios after substitution in Afconq
Published: November 16, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that Ola Aina will not make his 45th appearance for the Super Eagles on Monday evening when they takes on Rwanda's Wasps in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
The Nottingham Forest right-back was the only player who did not fly back with the Nigeria squad to Uyo on Friday.
Amid concerns about Aina's fitness, he has flown back to England for a proper medical assessment ahead of Nottingham Forest's crucial Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium next Saturday.
The Chelsea academy graduate was substituted shortly after Victor Osimhen headed in the equalizer during the Super Eagles' 1-1 draw against Benin's Cheetahs on Thursday night, making way for Fenerbahçe star Bright Osayi-Samuel.
After his substitution, Aina was attended to by the national team physios due to a knock he picked up during the matchday five clash at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
The 28-year-old is one of the first names on Nuno Espírito Santo's team sheet, featuring in all eleven of Nottingham Forest's Premier League matches this season.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will be having an open training session in Uyo on Saturday, starting at 1630 hours at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
Apart from Aina, Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is not available for selection against the Wasps as he has been granted compassionate leave after the passing of his father.
