Chelsea loanee Ugochukwu highlights three key qualities be brings to the Southampton team

On-loan Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu believes he can bring several key attributes to the Southampton team under new manager Ivan Juric.

The 20-year-old had fallen out of favor under former coach Russell Martin but is now slowly beginning to regain his place in the team under the new management.

Ugochukwu's return to the squad has been a welcome boost for Southampton, who are currently struggling in the Premier League.

The midfielder has made four consecutive appearances for the Saints, his longest run of games for the club.

The Nigeria-eligible midfielder's career at Southampton had gotten off to a rocky start.

He was convinced to join the club on the eve of the Premier League season after an unplanned visit to Martin's home.

However, his performance in his third appearance for the club, a 3-1 defeat to AFC Bournemouth, was widely criticized.

Despite the setbacks, Ugochukwu has been working hard to regain his place in the team.

His determination and work ethic have impressed Juric, who has expressed his desire to keep the midfielder at the club.

Ugochukwu highlighted his height, long legs and aggression as the three key contributions he will offer the Saints.

"With the manager, I think he's bringing something new to the team so now it's all about belief in ourselves. It's always good to have someone that believes in you," Ugochukwu said, whilst speaking at the Brentford match programme in quotes relayed by The Daily Echo.

"That's what I get from the new gaffer. That's why I want to fight for the gaffer, for the club, for everyone - my teammates, for myself, for the fans as well."

"I'm trying to be the type of player that people can rely on. I think I can bring a lot to the team, with my height, my long legs and my aggressiveness."

Since joining Southampton, he has started six matches from a possible twenty-three in all competitions.

The French-Nigerian starlet still has a contract with his parent club Chelsea until June 30, 2030, with a club option for the 2030-2031 season.
