Getafe ace Christantus Uche listed as a striker in La Liga Team of the Week
Published: January 14, 2025
Getafe ace Christantus Uche has been named in La Liga's Team of the Week by football statisticians WhoScored.
The 21-year-old midfielder who has sometimes featured as a forward for the Spanish side, earned his place amongst last week's best eleven for his performance against Las Palmas on Sunday.
The Deep Blues secured a hard-fought 2-1 away victory at Las Palmas in the Spanish La Liga with Uche providing the assist to the opening goal.
Uche, who only joined Getafe in the summer from lower league side Ceuta for €500,000, headed the ball into the path of Spanish winger Coba who made no mistake from close range in the 70th.
Borja Mayoral doubled the visitors' advantage four minutes from time before ex-Manchester United man Adnan Januzaj reduced the deficit for Las Palmas.
For the young Nigerian, it was his first goal involvement since his debut goal against Athletic Bilbao in August 2024.
This season, he has managed twenty-two appearances across all competitions in which he has scored a goal and assisted once.
The Super Eagles hopeful is joined by Getafe Teammate David Soria in goal, with Atletico Madrid's Clement Lenglet marshalling the defense alongside CD Leganes's Renato Tapia and Espanyol's Leandro Cabrera in a three-man back line.
Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi headlines be midfield alongside Leganes's Seydouba Cisse and Real Valladolid's Kike Perez.
Japanese Wing-wizard Takefusa Kubo stars on the right wing-back position along side Really Valladolid's Lucas Rosa on the opposite side.
CD Leganes hitman Miguel De La Fuente rounds up the eleven in a two-striker pairing with Uche.
