'The amount of goals he misses' - Ex-Man Utd chief scout says Rangers open to offers for Dessers

Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are open to offers for striker Cyriel Dessers, with the club willing to sell him for the right price, according to former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown.

Dessers has been struggling with inconsistency in front of goal, scoring just eight goals in 21 Premiership games this season.

The 30-year-old has recently lost his place in the starting XI to Hamza Igamane, and his struggles to hold the ball up and link play have been a source of frustration for fans.

With his importance under manager Philippe Clement dwindling, there is a feeling that the right offer could tempt Rangers to let him leave before the 3 February deadline.

The inconsistency of the Nigerian international in front of goal has long been a concern for fans, and his inability to score regularly has raised questions about his future at the club.

Rangers paid £4.5 million for Dessers, and if they can make a profit on that investment, they will facilitate his exit.

"It's a difficult one with Dessers," said Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment, to Football Insider

"When I hear Rangers fans talk about him, they say the thing about him is the amount of goals he misses.

"When he scores, you look and think that's what he's capable of. But it's about the number of goals he misses."

Brown believes that Dessers' inconsistency is a major concern, and that Rangers will sell him if they receive a reasonable bid.

"He came on as a sub against Man United when they've got all sorts of injury problems, because he's lost his starting place in their team," Brown said.

"I think there's a bit of a dilemma there, he's a bit of an enigma because he scores just enough goals to keep people interested and keep the belief in him."

Brown's assessment of Dessers' situation is that Rangers will sell him if they can make a profit on their investment.

"But if they got a reasonable bid for him, perhaps making a profit on what they paid, then I think they'll sell him because the questions about him won't seem to go away," Brown said.

Dessers' future at Rangers looks increasingly uncertain, and it remains to be seen whether the club will receive a suitable offer for him before the transfer deadline.
