Confirmed: RC Lens loan in Swedish-Nigerian forward from BK Hacken with option to buy
Published: January 29, 2025Through a statement on their official website, French Ligue 1 club RC Lens have announced the signing of Swedish winger of Nigerian Descent Jeremy Agbonifo on loan with an option to buy from BK Häcken.
The 19-year-old sensation has been making waves in Sweden's Allsvenskan league, and is currently a youth international for the country at U21 level.
Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, he joined BK Häcken's youth academy at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks.
His impressive performances earned him a call-up to Sweden's U17, U18 and U19 national teams, and he even spent a stint at FC Porto's academy in Portugal.
The young winger's big break came last season when he returned to BK Häcken and established himself as a regular starter.
His pace, skill, and vision on the pitch made him a nightmare for opposing defenders, and he quickly became one of the most exciting young players in Sweden.
Agbonifo's stats are quite impressive, with six goals and three assists in eighteen all-competition appearances for BK Hacken.
He's also shown his ability to perform on the big stage, scoring four goals in five games in the UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds.
The dual-national's arrival at RC Lens is a major boost for the team, who are 7th in the current Ligue standings and are fighting for the European places.
Agbonifo's pace, skill and ability to play on either wing will give manager Will Still plenty of options in attack.
The young winger will wear the number 25 shirt for the Blood and Gold, and will hope to make his debut for the club when they travel to face Montpellier on Friday.
