'One of the best forwards' - Ex-Galatasaray midfielder Etebo lauds Super Eagles teammate Osimhen
Published: February 04, 2025Super Eagles midfielder Peter Etebo has heaped praise on his compatriot Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Etebo, who plays for Gençlerbirliği, described Osimhen as one of the best forwards in the world, highlighting his impressive performances for Galatasaray.
Osimhen, who is on loan from Napoli, has been in scintillating form for Galatasaray, scoring crucial goals and helping the team maintain their title challenge.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Etebo joining the chorus of praise for the Nigerian striker.
The 29-year-old who has played in La Liga and the Premier League, knows a thing or two about top-level football.
His endorsement of Osimhen highlights his belief in the striker's abilities, and it's clear that he has been impressed by the striker's performances.
"Osimhen is one of the best forwards in the world. I think the football community also accepts this," former Galatasaray midfielder Etebo said in an interview with AA as quoted by Fanatik.
"I think he did a good thing by coming to Galatasaray. He is a very willing player on the field, who gives everything for his team.
"He continues to score goals. I think he will continue to score goals. I think he will do very successful things in his future career."
Etebo's praise for Osimhen is unsurprising, as their long-standing friendship since their time in the Nigerian national team has allowed him to witness Osimhen's impressive growth as a player.
"I remember that cup, it was in Senegal. Later, we played together many times in the Africa Cup in Egypt and the World Cup qualifiers.
"Osimhen is a very good friend of mine both on and off the field. He is currently at Galatasaray and I think he is having a good time," Etebo said.
Osimhen's future is likely to be a major talking point in the summer transfer window given his impressive form, which has seen him rack up 22 goal contributions (17 goals and 5 assists) in 22 all-competition appearances for Galatasaray this season.
This rich vein of form has also seem him find the back of the net in four consecutive UEFA Europa League matches this season.
With his loan deal at Galatasaray set to expire in the summer, the Nigerian striker has been linked with several top clubs, including Chelsea.
Juventus also made attempts to negotiate with Napoli for the star striker recently but were unsuccessful, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up next season.
