2026 World Cup qualifier: Three Rwanda players the Super Eagles should watch closely
Published: March 19, 2025
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to face the Amavubi of Rwanda in a crucial encounter on Friday at the Amahoro stadium in Kigali.
Currently fifth in Group C, Nigeria needs a victory to revive her hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Allnigeriasoccer.com presents three key Rwanda players that the Super Eagles players must be wary of and could pose a threat to their qualification hopes.
Bizimana Djihad (Al Ahli SC, Libya)
Born in Gisenyi, Rwanda, Bizimana Djihad is an experienced midfielder who currently plays for Al Ahli SC in the Libyan league.
The 28-year-old is expected to be one of Rwanda's most important players in the clash against Nigeria, given his ability to shield the defense and dictate the tempo in midfield.
With more than 60 international caps, Djihad brings a wealth of experience and leadership, which will be crucial in guiding Rwanda's younger players. His defensive attributes and ability to break up Nigeria's attacking flow could make him a key figure in this encounter.
Innocent Nshuti (Sabail FK, Azerbaijan)
Nshuti is a clinical striker who has already proven his ability against Nigeria.
He was instrumental during the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, scoring three goals in the tournament, including one in Rwanda's 2-1 victory over Nigeria in Uyo.
His sharp movement, ability to capitalize on defensive lapses, and finishing prowess make him a major threat.
The Nigerian defenders will need to be at their best to contain him and prevent a repeat of his past heroics.
Ntwari Fiacre (Kaizer Chiefs, South Africa)
Ntwari has been a dependable goalkeeper for Rwanda, especially in past encounters against Nigeria.
He showcased exceptional qualities during the goalless draw in Kigali during the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and played a crucial role in Rwanda's shock win in Uyo.
His shot-stopping abilities, composure under pressure, and command of the penalty area will be key for Rwanda as they aim to frustrate Nigeria's attacking force.
The Super Eagles must be clinical in front of goal if they hope to secure victory.
