Nigeria win recruitment battle for Tino Anjorin: Chelsea product ready to dump England for Super Eagles

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that the Nigeria Football Federation have won the recruitment battle for Chelsea academy graduate Faustino Anjorin, after missing out to England for the services of fellow Cobham products Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham.

After spending sixteen years at Chelsea, Anjorin completed a permanent transfer to Italian Serie A club Empoli last summer, where he is teammates with Super Eagles fullback Tyronne Ebuehi.

Reports suggest that Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle is considering Faustino Anjorin for selection ahead of the June 2025 international fixtures.

Born in England, the versatile midfielder qualifies to represent the Super Eagles through his Nigerian father, Sheriff Anjorin.

Despite being hailed as a potential Three Lions star in his teenage years, Anjorin's progress has been hampered by injuries, and he has not been called up to any England squad since 2021.

It is confirmed that the 23-year-old would love to represent the Super Eagles, and does not need any convincing by Eric Chelle or the Nigerian Federation.

However, he has to submit paperwork to Fifa for a one-time change of association as he is provisionally cap-tied to England after featuring in competitive games for the U17 and U19 national teams.

Anjorin is set to emulate current Super Eagles players Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina, who all represented the Young Lions before choosing to play for Nigeria at senior level.
