Injury keeps Taiwo Awoniyi out of Nottingham Forest matchday squad against Aston Villa

Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi is absent from the matchday squad for their ongoing Premier League clash against Aston Villa due to an injury.

The Nigerian international, who played a key role in Forest’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United, was substituted in the 86th minute during that match.

Initially seen as a precaution, the injury has prevented him from making the trip to Villa Park.

Awoniyi’s absence is a blow for Forest, as the Reds started the game against Aston Villa without a recognized center forward.

Following the win over Manchester United, in which he featured as a starter, the 27-year-old appeared to be regaining his form after a spell on the sidelines due to injury.

However, after the substitution, concerns over his fitness arose, and he has been unable to recover in time for today’s match.

The injury leaves Forest with limited options up front, as other forward, including Chris Wood, is also unavailable.

With the match already underway, Forest will be hoping their remaining attacking players can step up and continue their strong form without Awoniyi in the lineup.

The team is determined to secure a positive result against Villa despite the setback.

Awoniyi's international teammate Ola Aina is also unavailable for selection after sustaining a calf injury during the first half of the 1-0 win versus Manchester United.

Aston Villa are in control of the game against Nottingham Forest, leading 2-0 at the break courtesy of strikes from Morgan Rogers and Donyell Malen.
