Chelsea forward Tyrique George yet to hear from Nigeria after breaking Babayaro's 26yo record
Published: April 13, 2025
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that the Nigeria Football Federation have yet to reach out to history-making forward Tyrique George regarding his international future.
George entered the record books as the youngest Nigeria-eligible player to score for Chelsea in European competition after netting his first senior goal during the Blues' impressive 3-0 road win over Legia Warsaw in the Conference League, aged 19 years and 65 days.
And in doing so, he shattered a 26-year-old record previously held by 1993 U17 World Cup winner and Atlanta 1996 gold medalist Celestine Babayaro, who scored for Chelsea in a European Cup Winners Cup clash versus Valerenga at the age of 20 years and 187 days.
Born in London, England, the Chelsea academy graduate whose full name is Tyrique Yusuff George qualifies to represent the Super Eagles through his Nigerian dad, Yusuff.
The English Football Association has identified the dual-national forward as a star of the future, capping him at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level and it's only a matter of time before he earns a promotion to the U20s.
George joined Chelsea academy as an U8, rising through the ranks to make his professional debut in a UEFA Conference League qualifier against Servette FC, where he came off the bench to replace Noni Madueke with twenty-eight minutes remaining.
Since then, he has totaled eighteen appearances in all competitions for the Premier League giants, registering five goal involvements, including four assists.
