Official: Villarreal Unveil IKECHUKWU UCHE
Published: July 15, 2012
Ikechukwu Uche was officially presented to supporters of Villarreal and the Press this weekend.
It would be recalled that the Super Eagle joined the Yellow Submarine hours before the end of last summer's transfer window. Without kicking a ball, the forward was sent on loan to Granada.
The Nigerian has returned to Villarreal following the expiration of his loan deal with Granada. The most important goal of Ikechukwu Uche this coming season is to help Villarreal return to Spain's top flight.
''Pressure is normal. Everyone knows how important it is to return to the First Division. Fields are very difficult, but I trust the players we have. It will be very complicated, but we have to work together, know what we want and try to win each of the matches, '' Uche was quoted as saying by lasprovincias.es.
Uche is not new to the second division. Six seasons ago, he finished as top scorer for Recreativo Huelva. He hopes to replicate that feat with Villarreal.
He said: ''Experience in the Second Division will help me to face this new challenge. It is not the same as being in the first and then come back, but certainly to have experience in the category is important.''
Ikechukwu Uche reportedly cost Villarreal 3.5 million euros when the club purchased him from Real Zaragoza in August, 2011.
