PHILIP ASUQUO THANKS KESHI
Published: August 08, 2012
Newly invited Shooting Stars of Ibadan in-form midfielder, Philip Ezborn Asuquo has sent words of appreciation to Super Eagles coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi (Big Boss) for extending a call of the national team to him.
The former Plateau United dazzler, whose invitation came on the back of his emergence as Nigeria Premier League (NPL) player of the week in matchday 35 of the season, against Rangers International of Enugu in Ibadan, told allnigeriassocer.com that his target now is to justify the trust Keshi has in him.
“I am happy for my invitation to the Super Eagles,” said the petit lad, who grew up in Ijora area of Lagos. “It is a dream come true for me and I appreciate the encouragement Coach Keshi has given me.”
Asuquo, who once had a spell playing in Benin Republic alongside his childhood pal, Monday Osunbor, said he will now give all he has to make the final cut of players for Wednesday’s international friendly against Niger Republic in Niamey.
“My main aim now is to justify my invitation to camp and do all I can to make the final list for the friendly match against Republic of Niger,” said the youngster, who was popularly known as Ezborn during his budding days with Adejumno Babes FC of Ijora, Lagos.
