Levante Entice OBAFEMI MARTINS With =N=450 Million Wages
Published: September 13, 2012
The transfer imbroglio involving the Nigeria international Obafemi Martins is nearing conclusion.
Spanish media led by Marca reported on Thursday that the 27 - year - old forward has agreed to severe ties with Rubin Kazan. In exchange for his freedom the Russian club will pay him two months wages totaling 400,000 euros.
Levante are shopping in the free agency market for offensive reinforcements and have set their sights on the former Inter Milan wonder - kid Obafemi Martins.
There is an agreement in principle for Martins to sign a two - year contract, with a year's option inserted into the deal, with the club based in Valencia. The Nigerian will become the highest paid player at Levante, earning 600, 000 euros as annual wages but this could rise to 750,000 euros based on performance.
If things go according to plan Martins will arrive Spain before the end of this week to formalize the contract. For future sale of the player, possibly next season, Levante have fixed a buy-out clause of five million euros, a percentage of that figure goes to Martins.
Registration has closed for the group stage of the Europa League. The Spanish club won't be able to count on the services of Obafemi Martins for the competition.
