UCHE NWOFOR Makes Eredivisie Team Of The Week
Published: September 17, 2012Top scorer at the last African Youth Championship Uche Nwofor came off the bench on Sunday to save VVV Venlo the agony of yet another defeat in the latest round of matches played in the Dutch championship.
Nwofor bagged a brace in the 2-2 draw with NEC. The Limburg based club had trailed the away team by two goals scored by Breuer(2nd minute) and Melvin Platje (55th minute).
Highly respected Dutch Football magazine Elf Voetbal on Monday recognized the contributions of Nwofor by picking the young forward in its Team of the Week.
''I am delighted to be picked by Elf Voetbal in its Team of the Week. I want to dedicate these goals to the Almighty God for making it possible, to my family, friends and supporters of the club. I can't predict the number of goals I would score this season, but I wish to score more goals.,'' Nwofor disclosed to allnigeriasoccer.com.
Speaking on his substitute appearance, the ex Enugu Ranger said: ''No player is happy being on the bench. But the decision came from the technical crew and there is nothing I can do about it. I have to be patient and wait for my time.''
Uche Nwofor has now scored 7 goals in 35 appearances for VVV Venlo. He is under contract with the club until June 30, 2014.
