Liberia Impressive In Loss To Niger

Once again, the Lone star of Liberia has displayed yet another brilliant and scintillating run of performance at the General Seyni Kountche Stadium in Niamey, Niger in a friendly encounter ahead of the decisive decider against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on 13 October.
The Niger Menas however, perhaps with the help of match officials, fought to close the full 90 minutes of play by 4-3 in their favor as they prepare for Guinea this weekend.
The Lone star kicked off on a elegant note but the man who later got a brace, Marcus Macaulay, wasted a golden chance when he had only goalkeeper Kassaly Dauda to content with in the first minute of the match.
Two minutes later, Zah Krangai also missed another begging chance placing the ball inches from goal to the delight of the home side.
As though angry over the manner in which the Lone Star wasted the early chances, the Menas got the opener in the 12th minute through Kanilou Douda, the towering striker.
LISCR Fc midfielder Marcus Macaulay leveled the score but Daoda did allow the Liberians to celebrate too long when he increased the tally to end the half by 2-1 against Liberia.
Back from recess, the Lone star took possession and struck two goals, a beautiful header from defender Solomon Wesseh and a brilliant run from Soto Roberts, but all disallowed by referee Dboul Aziz Hama upon the decision of the assistant referee.
Not too long in the 49th minute, Demark based Ansu Toure, who had replaced injured Patrick Wleh, finally from the jinx with the equalizer.
Five minutes later, Zah Krangai put Liberia ahead with a beautiful delivery. From then on, it was all superb in terms of distribution and possession to the delight of the home fans.
However, the last 10 minutes saw the home side come back strong to score twice and equalized, poor goal keeping by James Galley was largely a factor.
The match was worth its intent especially with a few days to the show down in Calabar, Nigeria where the last lap of game to the South Africa 2013 Nations cup finals is to unfold.
The Lone star played with 4 players on the bench (15 players in total). Leading goalie Nathaniel Sherman did not dress as he is fight fitness.
