Sidney Sam Called Up For USA Friendly
Published: May 16, 2013
Bayer Leverkusen's Sidney Sam has been called up by Germany manager Joachim Loew for the trip to North America, where they are scheduled to play exhibition matches against USA and Ecuador.
Sidney Sam, 25, has caps for the youth teams of Germany but had earlier pledged his international future to Nigeria.
What was remaining for the winger to make his debut for the African champions was paper work, which the Nigeria Football Federation had started processing.
Also named by Loew in his 23 - man squad to USA is Hamburg's Dennis Aogo, who has Nigerian blood flowing in his veins.
Germany are ranked second in the latest Fifa World Ranking. Including friendlies, they have not lost their last 8 matches.
