Nigeria international Samson Tijani made his Austrian Bundesliga debut for Red Bull Salzburg on Friday night as the champions defeated Rapid Vienna 2-1 at the Allianz-Stadion.
In his first squad involvement for a top-flight fixture, the former Golden Eaglets captain entered the game as a substitute in the 74th minute as a replacement for Bernede.
Tijani made his senior debut for Red Bull Salzburg in the Cup clash against LASK on February 6, lasting just one minute on the pitch.
Filip Stojkovic leapt in the area and sank a header past Philipp Köhn to open the scoring for the home team in the 17th minute.
Noah Okafor set up Brenden Aaronson for the equaliser n the 64th minute and the cap-tied Switzerland international of Nigerian descent smashed the ball in from close range for what proved to be the game-winning strike in the 77th minute.
Having been involved in the last two games played by Salzburg, it is believed that it is a foregone conclusion that Tijani will be named in the matchday 23 on Wednesday, February 16 when the Austrian champions face off with Bayern Munich in a round of 16 Champions League tie at the Red Bull Arena.
The 19-year-old made a good impression on manager Matthias Jaissle during Red Bull's winter training camp.
