Russian Premier League champions Lokomotiv Moscow are exploring ways to sign Nigeria star Brian Idowu, according to reports.
Championat.com says Lokomotiv are interested in ex-defender of Amkar Perm Brian Idowu , but the Nigerian football player is not a priority transfer goal of the Moscow club.
The Railwaymen's left-back position is top-heavy, with Mikhail Lysov, Maciej Rybus and Vitaliy Denisov able to play that role.
Negotiations have started with Idowu but the demands of the Super Eagles left-back have slowed down talks.
The Saint Petersburg native has spent the whole of his career to date with Russian clubs, starting off at Smena-Zenit, followed by spells at Zenit St Petersburg, Amkar Perm and Dynamo St. Petersburg, for whom he played on loan in the 2013-14 campaign.
Former Nigeria internationals Peter Odemwingie and Victor Obinna previously represented Lokomotiv Moscow.
