'Ryan gave us an outlet' - Blackburn coach singles out snubbed Super Eagles RB for praise

Blackburn Rovers coach Michael O’Neill has singled out Ryan Alebiosu for praise following his performance in the goalless draw against Middlesbrough in the English Championship.

Speaking to RoversTV after the game, O’Neill highlighted the right-back's contribution, particularly in the opening half, as Blackburn sought to create opportunities in a tightly contested encounter.

“We had our own moments as well, and Ryan [Alebiosu] gave us an outlet in the first half,” O’Neill said, acknowledging the Nigerian’s role in providing width and support during attacking phases.

Alebiosu featured for the full 90 minutes and delivered a composed display at the back, maintaining discipline throughout the contest.

His performance helped Blackburn remain solid defensively as both sides were unable to find a breakthrough.

The defender’s ability to balance his defensive responsibilities with forward runs offered Rovers an option down the flank, particularly during the first half when the hosts looked to gain momentum.

His work rate and positioning ensured that Blackburn stayed competitive in a match where chances were limited.

Despite his steady performances at club level, Alebiosu will not be part of the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan. T

he matches are scheduled to take place in Antalya, Turkey later this month.

The Nigerian defender was not included in the squad list released by Eric Chelle, ruling him out of the forthcoming fixtures.
